Learn Photo Basics
United States
This blog is for anyone who wants to learn the basic principles of photography in an easy and useful way. If you are brand new to photography, start with the oldest post and work your way up to the most recent one; the lessons build on each other! Although I can't teach you how to use each switch and dial on your specific model of camera, the basic principles of photography are both universal and powerful. Learn how photography really works and you can use almost any camera to create artistic and expressive images. We'll take it one step at a time, introducing and explaining terms as we go so you don't get bogged down with jargon. That being said, I promise not to talk down to you either. I trust that you are a smart, capable person looking for a bit of real photographic education, not just tips and tricks to snap the occasional pretty photo. Ready to learn how photography really works? Ready to see the images you envisioned in your mind actually show up on your camera? OK, let's get started!
